To me, beautifully crafted words can conjure a vision, evoke a scent or arouse a feeling. When they work well you don't even notice them working and I am in constant admiration of how powerful they can be.

My background is consumer PR, predominantly within the lifestyle sector. I've worked for a broad range of companies, and on brands ranging from health & beauty to food & drink to interiors.

I understand how brands work and the importance of words to make them come alive - be it a brochure, a piece of editorial or simply a strapline. It's no secret that selling any consumer product is about creating desire - and good product descriptions can plant the seeds of desire for things you never knew you needed.
Since a young age I must have spent hour upon hour writing, as well as plucking a word a day from the dictionary. This love of words and their meaning eventually led to a career in magazine journalism at a leading UK publishing house.

After 15 years as an editor on a variety of subjects from general features to health & beauty I eventually went freelance and have since written for many big beauty brand names such as Elemis and Champneys, as well as other publications.

Amusingly, some time ago I discovered an old school project ‘What I want to be when I grow up’. Being a writer was top of the list so it is a comforting thought that I have ended up doing what I love most and to this day, the memory of stumbling across my course work always makes me smile.
